"The Oprah Winfrey Show," an iconic broadcast that grew over two decades into a daytime television powerhouse and the foundation of a multibillion-dollar media empire, will end its run in 2011…MSNBC.com
It’s a long time coming, the Queen of day time television, Ms. Oprah Winfrey will call it quits on CBS in 2011. Over 2 decades, and 25 seasons she will finally end her reign. Authors better hurry up and finish their books in hopes to get on one of her final shows. Women will be lining up to get tickets to shows in her final year. It will definitely be historic, but definitely not the end all.
I wondered why a woman still at the top of her career would want to fold up shop. No one ever leaves at the top, from Michael Jordan, to the local school teacher that teaches for decades. Oprah isn’t hanging it up, she will be moving on to bigger and better things. In fact, she will have her OWN…Yes, the Oprah Winfrey Network is right around the corner. Author’s stop sweating, she’ll be partnering up with Discovery Communications Inc., to replace the Discovery Health Channel opening up Oprah’s show to 74 Millions homes across the country.
Best wishes to Oprah! I look forward to seeing her shine even more than she has, after all those years of being on top, still managing to keep it real, and be humble in the moment of all that money and power.
